Maui
Golden beaches, a summit above the clouds and one of Hawaii's most scenic drives.
What to expect
Maui is the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands. Its main resort areas, Kāʻanapali and Kapalua in West Maui and Wailea on the south shore, offer beachfront hotels and condos, with snorkeling, surf lessons and golf close by.
Beyond the beach, visitors head up to the summit of Haleakalā National Park, take the winding Road to Hāna past waterfalls and rainforest, and join boat trips to Molokini Crater. In the winter months, humpback whales gather in the waters around Maui. Some West Maui communities, including Lahaina, are still rebuilding after the August 2023 wildfires, so we'll share current guidance to help you visit respectfully.

Watch the sun rise or set from the summit, high above the clouds. Sunrise visits currently need an advance park reservation.

Resort beaches
Kāʻanapali, Kapalua and Wailea offer beachfront resorts and condos.
Whale season
Humpback whales visit in the winter months, and whale-watching tours are popular.

Upcountry Maui
Cooler slopes with farms, ranches and small towns on the sides of Haleakalā.
